BIO: Costume Designer – Stylist: Lauren Tafuri

laurenLauren Tafuri is one of the most influential young Fashion Stylists of her generation, perhaps this is because she is also a Costume Designer. Born and raised in New York City and educated in Painting and Fine Art at UCLA, she began her career working on music videos, commercials and feature films before expanding into editorial and runway in New York.

She has worked on fashion campaigns and runway shows for the great fashion houses such as Cavalli and Prada. She has worked with the most recognized magazine editors and stylists such as Alice Gentilucci, Joe Zee, Lori Goldstein, Andrew Richardson and Marie Amelie-Sauve. Between fashion shoots, she dresses celebrities for red carpet and appearances including Victoria Beckham, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Shannyn Sossamon, and Miranda July.

In the music world she has dressed pop stars like Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Jennifer Lopez, to indie powerhouses such as Morrissey, Weezer, Kim Gordon, Blonde Redhead, and Beirut. She has also styled campaigns for Doc Martens and Levis. She is known for her keen eye and understated avant-garde approach.

Lauren has contributed to magazine editorials for Vogue Italia, Paper, AnOther Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, and TeenVogue. She has worked with photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, Terry Richardson, Steven Meisel, and Peter Lindbergh, and film directors such as Roman Coppola and Jonas Akerlund.

Recently she designed the costumes for First Point, a surf noir film by artist Richard Phillip, starring Lindsay Lohan, as well as collaborating with long time friend Candice Carella on her first short film, Pony. Currently Lauren is working with CoverGirl styling their latest spokesmodels: Katy Perry, Janelle Monae, Sophia Vergara, and Pink for all their media coverage, print and commercial.
